Kia Motors America has been recognized as the highest-ranking automotive brand in the J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS) making this the first time in 27 years that a non-premium brand has achieved this impressive ranking. Over the past few years Kia has consistently climbed in the rankings of the IQS with them earning a ranking in the 10 ten for the first time in 2013 and then landing in second place in 2015.
“Ranking number one in the entire industry for initial quality is the result of Kia’s decade-long focus on craftsmanship and continuous improvement, and reflects the voice of our customers, which is the ultimate affirmation,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, Kia Motors America. “As the highest ranked brand in the industry, there is no doubt Kia is a world-class automaker.”
The J.D Power IQS evaluated overall owner satisfaction with their new vehicles purchases or leases within the first 90 days of ownership. Each new vehicles is evaluated through an extensive survey that measures satisfaction in a range of categories such as engine and transmission performance, driving experience, and more.
In addition to the overall ranking for the brand, five of their vehicles were ranked in the top three for their individual segments. These vehicles included the Sportage and Soul, Rio, Forte and Sorento.

The results of the Total Quality Impact (TQI) study have been released by Strategic Vision and Kia Motors was recognized as the highest quality brand under $26,000 (in a tie). There were more than 39,000 new car owners surveyed by the company in order to determine the overall winners and the winners in each of the various vehicle segments. Along with the top recognition for the entire brand the all-new Kia Sedona and Sorento also earned the highest TQI scores in their segments.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) highest possible safety rating, of five stars, has been presented to the 2017 Kia Sorento. This model earned five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test in order to earn the five-star overall rating.
Some of the standard safety features found on the 2017 Sorento include vehicle stability management, six airbags, electronic stability control, and antilock brakes. Some of the optional safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and forward-collision warning.

May Sales Announced By Kia Motors America
May represents the fourth month that Kia Motors America (KMA) has achieved a new sales record throughout the first five months of 2016. Additionally, with a total of 62,926 units sold in May this is the brand’s best-ever sales result for that month.
“Our popular ‘Summer’s On Us’ sales event generated significant showroom traffic, and we reached new heights in May despite two fewer selling days this year and an overall slowing of sales seen throughout the industry,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “With the all-new Sportage attracting more customers than ever before, and the return of our music-loving hamsters in a new campaign for the Soul, we are confident customers will continue to discover all that the ‘New Kia’ has to offer.”
The Sportage achieved its highest-ever monthly sales total with a 91 percent increase to reach 8,568 units. A few other models also achieved a double-digit sales increase with the Sorento reporting a 10.9 percent increase to reach 11,914 units, the Sedona coming up 25.8 percent to end the month with 5,170 units, and the Forte reporting a 15.4 percent increase to reach 9,910 units.
Additionally, the all-new Cadenza achieved a May sales result of 468 units and sales of the Soul came to 13,706 units.
