The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has presented three different Kia vehicles with a Top Safety Pick rating. The IIHS gave each vehicle a “good” score in their five crash tests (roof strength, head restraint, side, moderate overlap front, and small overlap front) before awarding them the Top Safety Pick overall rating. Lux Motorwerks in Keyport, NJ is known for its deluxe automotive restyling and so Kia teamed up with them in to have a number of custom vehicles created for SEMA Show 2015. One such project involved turning a 2016 Kia Optima into an eye catching roadster vehicle. This was no easy feat as it meant that the team needed to step outside of its normal sportier design style in order to create a model that exudes class and luxury. To turn this Optima into a roadster, the team needed to make a number of large body changes such as adding suicide doors, and turning this sedan into a convertible. They also added a new turquoise paint job and light-colored leather seating in order to bring a color scheme that would reflect the bright, sandy beaches of the South Florida area. The 2016 Kia Optima in an impressive vehicle that takes the design and capabilities of the 2015 model and brings them up a notch in order to provide customers with an upgraded, redesigned version of an already incredible model. This same sentiment was echoed by MotorWeek in a recent Quick Spin review that they released on this vehicle. In fact, one of their key points was that each Optima they have tested over the years has managed to improve upon and greatly outshine the previous model. Kia Motors America had a couple of reasons to be proud of last month. Not only was it a record-setting November, but they also sold their six-millionth vehicle in the U.S. since arriving in 1994. In November, KMA sold a total of 45,553 vehicles, which is a 1.4 percent increase year-over-year.
