Tips For Keeping Your Kia Organized: Sort and Clean Take everything out of the car, including car seats, music, and miscellaneous items stored in the glove box and door pockets. Organize the rest of the items into three piles: stuff you use all the time, things you use occasionally, and items you might need in an emergency. Whatever doesn’t fall into these categories should be stored in your home or garage. Analyze Ask yourself, “How do I use my car?” Are you an Uber or Lyft driver? Maybe you’re a parent with two toddlers in car seats or a salesman who travels with a trunkload of samples. Whatever it is, figure it out. Destination Kia’s Steps To Replacing A Headlight: Open and prop your vehicle's hood. Remove the power connector from the back of the headlight. This may require a slight turn to get it loose. Remove the dust cover from the back of the headlight. This also may require a small twist to get loose. Some cars have a clip that holds the bulb in place. Press down on this clip to release the light bulb. Grasp the housing of the bulb and pull it out. This step may require a little wiggling to get it loose. Do not pull the bulb by the glass or tug the bulb roughly. You could cause it to break. Holding the old bulb and new bulbs by their housings, compare to make sure they match. To guarantee your bulb is free of dust and fingerprints, gently wipe it with a pre-moistened alcohol wipe or rubbing alcohol on a dust-free cloth. Line up the bulb housing with the open socket and insert carefully. Make sure it's secure. Slide the bulb back in place and twist if necessary to make sure it's locked into its spot. Replace the clip (if you have one), dust cover, and power connector. Turn on your headlights to ensure the bulb and connection are working. Close the hood and pat yourself on the back!

What better way to head into the New Year than with a clean and organized trunk. This week we are sharing with you our go-to guide on how to get your trunk organized and keep it that way. Take a look at our guide below and get out to your ride to get started! The first step is to get clean and get your vehicle ready to be organized. I like to start by removing all the items from my trunk and even take it a step further and empty out the cabin, as well. Separate your items into three piles, one you plan to keep in your vehicle, another you plan to throw away, and a third you plan to rehome somewhere outside of your vehicle. Once your vehicle is empty, spend some time cleaning the actual fabric and interior of your trunk. Whether you are planning to go in-depth with a cleaning solution and soap or just a little vacuuming, take the time to show your trunk some TLC. If your trunk is smelling a little funky, try adding an air freshener to your trunk. Now, it’s time to organize. I like to use organization bins to keep all of my items from rolling around my trunk. Shower caddies are a great option to keep items like car fluids and small objects together and straight up so they don’t leak or open up. If you have the option for a cargo net in your vehicle, it’s a great option to invest in. Keep your things from rolling around or hindering your trunk from closing. Are you ready to organize now? Sometimes resuscitating your car battery feels like a delicate medical procedure. Ok, everyone back up. I need a charged up vehicle, jumper cables, and some moral support, STAT! The vehicle was last seen charged this morning before work. The cause of battery death appears to be because the car door was left slightly ajar. Rookie mistake! How could I have done something so foolish! Now it’s time for me to find a good friend willing to donate some vehicle lifeblood (electricity if we’re being real about it) to me and my vehicle. For those of you who have not had to jump your car before, let me walk you through the steps. Unfortunately, this is not my first time at the dead battery rodeo. As it turns out I’m not super great about closing my car doors. Jumping your car battery seems like a somewhat daunting task, but don’t you worry, it’s not that hard. Just like the AA batteries you use for your TV remote, the two posts on the battery in your car has a negative side and a positive side. They don’t say negative or positive, but they do have a – symbol and a + symbol on the battery or on a cap that is covering the posts to tell you which post is which. Sometimes, car manufacturers color code the cable wires to the battery posts to help you differentiate the positive from the negative even more.  The red cable is positive, black cable is negative.  This is important info to remember. I struggled with this as seeing red as positive goes against everything I ever learned in college. My thesis papers looked like a crime scene of red ink covering the pages. Red, to me anyway, has never looked like a good thing. I’m getting off topic, but the moral here is that you need to find a quick and easy way to remember that red is positive and black is negative. My way is Red is ready to go, which sounds vaguely positive. The next thing to know is that the jumper cables are color coded, telling you exactly which end to connect to the post, so red to red and black to black.  What’s most important is the sequence. Below I have listed the steps to follow to jump your car back to life! Take out your jumper cables. It’s good to have your own in your car just in case, otherwise, you’re at the mercy of whoever happens to be around to literally beg to for help. Place both vehicles in Park or Neutral and shut off the ignition in both cars. (DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR ON WHILE YOU TRY TO ATTACH THE JUMPER CABLES!! YOU WILL LITERALLY DIE.) Engage both parking brakes as well (having your car roll away would really just be the cherry on top of this situation). Attach one of the red clips to the positive terminal of your battery. It has “POS” or “+” on it, or it’s bigger than the negative terminal. Attach the other red clip to the positive terminal of the other car. (Follow the order carefully. It’s important) Attach one of the black clips to the negative terminal on the other battery. Attach the last black clip to an unpainted metal surface on your car that isn’t near the battery. Use one of the metal struts that hold the hood open. Start the working vehicle and let the engine run for a few minutes. Try to start your vehicle. If it won’t start, make sure that the cables are properly connected and have the good Samaritan run his or her engine for five minutes. Then try to start your car again. If it still won’t start, your battery may be beyond help. If your battery is beyond help, you can stop by Destination Kia for a new one and we’ll be happy to help you out!
