The Kia GT Concept has been one of the most buzzed about concept vehicles to emerge this year, and we know you’ve been dying for more details on Kia’s first sports sedan. Destination Kia finally has them, as the production model of the Kia GT was unveiled this week at the 2017 North American International Auto Show! The 2018 Kia Stinger, which will be the production name for the GT Concept, completely stole the show and wowed the audience as the highest-performance production vehicle in Kia history.
With an eight-speed rear-wheel transmission and two available turbocharged engines, the 2018 Kia Stinger is guaranteed to thrill and excite. Drivers will have the choice between the standard 2.0L Turbocharged Four-Cylinder Theta II Engine (255 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque) and the available 3.3l Twin-Turbo V6 Lambda II Engine (365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque).
Outside, the Stinger exterior embodies athleticism and confidence with accents such as a tiger-nose grille, four exhaust pipes, front air curtains, LED headlamps, and smooth underbody. Inside, the Stinger will host a variety of tech-savvy features like a seven-inch haptic touchscreen equipped with UVO, Smartphone Charging Pad, Head-Up Display, next-generation QuantumLogic™Surround Sound Technology, and Bluetooth® Hands-Free Operation. Top-shelf safety technologies include Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Integrated Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
“Unlike any Kia that has come before it, the Stinger really is a dream car for us, and here today in Detroit, that dream is now a reality after years of commitment and hard work from a passionate group of designers, engineers and executives around the world,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America. “From its GT concept-car origins to the years of tuning and refining on the legendary Nurburgring circuit, no detail was too small to be obsessed over, and the result is simply stunning.”
The 2018 Kia Stinger is due to arrive at Destination Kia late 2017, so keep checking back on our blog for more details on pricing and the expected arrival date!
