- Always check the weather before heading out especially for long-distance travels
- Accelerate and decelerate slowly
- Increase your following distance to five or six seconds
- Don’t power up or stop when going up a hill
- Drive slowly and take your time
- Be prepared, pack an emergency kit
- Always keep a half tank of gas in the winter
- If you can avoid it, don’t bring your vehicle to a stop
- Never use cruise control when weather conditions are tough
- If weather conditions seem risky, stay home
