Kia Soul is a Car and Driver 10Best
For the past 35 years, Car and Driver has been releasing their 10Best list, which recognizes the ten best vehicles on the market. This year, they expanded the list by releasing the inaugural 10Best Trucks and SUVs list. The list includes one vehicle from each category including full-size pickup, large SUV, mid-size pickup, van, compact luxury SUV, compact SUV, subcompact luxury SUV, subcompact SUV, mid-size luxury SUV, and mid-size SUV. This year, the 2017 Kia Soul clinched the spot for the best subcompact SUV!
“We are honored that Car and Driver has named the Soul to its ‘10Best Trucks and SUVs’ list,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “The Soul has been an extraordinary success story for the Kia brand, and earning this award is a testament to our continued commitment to world-class quality and top-notch design that can be – in the Soul’s case – as funky as it is functional.”
The refreshed 2017 Kia Soul will see some serious performance upgrades including a 1.6L Turbocharged Engine with 201 horsepower paired with a new Seven-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. New features include advanced safety technology like Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, along with entertainment features like UVO3 with Integrated Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™. The 2017 Kia Soul will be rolling into Destination Kia this January, so keep up with our blog for additional updates!

Kia Teases GT Concept With New Website
You may have heard the rumors circulating about the very first sports sedan to emerge from Kia, the Kia GT Concept. So far, there haven’t been too many details released on it, only that it will be a Rear-Wheel Drive Four-Door Sports Sedan aimed at luxury performance fans. Now, Kia announced that they will be debuting the GT at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show on January 8th!
While the unveiling is only a month away, Kia knows that they have many impatient fans! That’s why they’ve launched a website called The Curve Ahead. This website will be featuring video clips and images that showcase the different features and performance capabilities of the GT Concept.
“The Curve Ahead is all about potential,” Kia explained. “The potential to clip every apex, and consume every straight. To take on each twist and turn with agility, speed and progressive design. With a new paradigm of performance on the horizon, Kia’s newest vehicle takes to the grueling Nürburgring to realize its full potential.”

Your steering wheel is one of the features of your vehicle that you touch each and every time you drive. Therefore, it is not surprising to note that it can become quite dirty since it is constantly being touched and handled. In fact, the constant use can cause the steering wheel to be covered in all kinds of body oil, dirt, and bacteria that we have tracked in from all of the other objects that we touch on a daily basis. Yet, even with all of this outside contamination the steering wheel is generally overlooked when it comes to vehicle maintenance.
However, the truth is that cleaning your steering wheel is actually a relatively simple process and one that should not take you more than a few minutes. All you need is some all-purpose cleaner, a microfiber towel and some warm water. Start by spraying some of the cleaner onto the towel, not the steering. This is important because spraying the wheel directly could cause fluid to leak into the clear plastic in the gauge buster and you will not be able to remove it.
Once you spray the towel, you then use it to wipe down the steering wheel in 360-degree turns in order to give it a good clean. If your steering wheel has not been scrubbed in a while then you could follow that step up by using a toothbrush and a three-to-one mixture of water and all-purpose cleaner to get into the crevices and other areas that need a deeper scrubbing.
After you finish scrubbing wipe the steering wheel down using a microfiber towel and warm water in order to remove any excess cleaner from the wheel. You can even take things up a notch if you would line by using a steam machine if you have access to one.

How to Drive Safely at Night
It happens every year. Once summer is over, the days get shorter, and soon enough we’re all commuting home to Albany, Schenectady, Clifton Park, Queensbury and Kingston, NY in the dark. With this comes a few new hazards and things you should do to be prepared for the trip. Check them out below and travel safe!
- Get enough sleep. Being tired behind the wheel is dangerous and a huge distraction. Fit in a nap at lunch or rest your eyes before taking off at night.
- Have a clear view. If you can’t see around you, you’re a danger to yourself and everyone else on the road. You might not notice in the light of day, but once headlights hit your windshield at night, you’ll see streaks and smudges you didn’t know were there.
- Stay back a bit. It’s hard to see if something is in the road at night, people tend to drive slower and quick braking can happen. Leave enough room between you and the person in front of you to stay safe.
- Get the most out of your headlights by aiming them. If your headlights are in other driver’s eyes, or lighting up front lawns, they aren’t lighting your path. Come to Destination Kia and we’ll get them aimed properly.
- Keep your eyes moving. Our depth perception isn’t that great in the dark, that means your eyes will be working harder. And harder still if you’re staring in one direction.
- Turn your interior lights down as much as possible. They will compete with the outside making it hard for you to see. It’s also a good idea to avoid looking at oncoming traffic lights.
